Greg and Deb Krebs

Review

“We looked at many styles and neighborhoods before choosing our beautiful new home; but in every category, the Villas at Jackson Heights proved to be the best choice,” says Deb Krebs. The basic home was already built, but still brand new when Deb and Greg discovered it. “There was a lot of opportunity for us to make interior choices that really made the home our own. Our kitchen and dining areas are a perfect example of how a J. A. Myers home can be customized to fit the individual needs of every buyer. We opted for a “split level” counter to separate the kitchen from the dining room, thus making the dining room a more formal area. The counter works beautifully as a buffet area; and in less formal situations provides extra seating space for guests…especially our grandchildren,” Deb says with a smile and that “grandmotherly” twinkle in her eye. Deb and Greg chose to have separate garage and laundry room doors in our kitchen. (This is another example of how J.A. Myers can customize their models to meet the owners’ needs.) “We also had the opportunity to add under-cupboard lighting and were given an appliance allowance so that we could choose the appliances we wanted instead of accepting the builder’s choice. The kitchen is also “loaded” with specially-insulated electrical outlets that are not only handy, but also keep cold air from seeping in around the receptacles!” says Deb. Deb and Greg also opted to have the inside of their home professionally painted by the Myers interior work crew. This was an extra cost, but “extremely reasonable,” in their words. The spacious living room boasts many outstanding focal points: First there’s the soaring cathedral ceiling and a stylish gas fireplace that actually helps to heat the home. (According to Deb and Greg Krebs, heating and cooling are very economical at the villa.) There are electrical outlets in the floor so that furniture can be placed in the middle of the room (perhaps facing the fireplace) without the danger of someone tripping over a cord. There’s also the elegant open stairway and crecent-shaped balcony that leads to a second floor guest suite complete with its own full bath and spacious closets. In the Kreb’s home this particular room accommodates the grandchildren when they visit, providing space to sleep or just to play. Alarge closet holds toys, books, games and extra clothes. The children like to include the picturesque balcony in “their” space. It’s a great place for playing games and keeping an eye on the adults in the living room below! This beautiful feature also provides the perfect perch for the family’s cat to preside over all activities! The guest bedroom on the first floor can also be outfitted as a library, a study or a craft room. Nearby is another full bath. Of course, there’s a master suite with a 4-piece bath complete with a wonderfully large soaking tub, a separate walk-in shower with seat and lovely “his and hers” vanities. Even outside, this villas are inviting! There’s a lovely patio/porch with every home, and a lush lawn and shrubbery that is completely maintained by the Jackson Heights maintenance crew. Another feature are the “miles” of smooth sidewalks for the walking pleasure and convenience of the homeowners. Deb Krebs also tells us that the Villa Community at Jackson Heights is a neighborly, yet private place. “We keep an eye on each other without being intrusive. Camadrie between residents ranges from friendly waves and “hellos” with a bit of conversation to an occasional “dinner out,” which is open to any resident who wants to “know the neighbors better!” Sometimes 30 or more people go to these “meals out” at a local restaurant. It is not a Homeowners’ Association event; but simply a neighborly option in a charming community, where all live privately…but “together!”
