Civil Construction Superintendent
We are currently seeking a Civil Construction Superintendent to join our Land Division Team. The Superintendent should have previous experience in project planning, scheduling, managing skilled and unskilled tradesman and subcontractors. The ideal candidate is a motivated and dependable individual along with being a team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scope of work, and project schedules.
- Develop and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with clients, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organizations.
- Supervise 30+ employees and subcontractors to ensure the project scope is built in full conformance with the plans, specifications, schedule, and budget.
- Knowledge of topographical survey methods and ability to understand and interpret that data.
- Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others at all times, in accordance with OSHA and J. A. Myers standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office based programs.
- Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
- OSHA Safety Training is a plus.
- Experience with Topcon GPS and HCSS Software is a plus.

Land & Development Project Manager/Project Estimator
We are currently seeking a Land Development Project Manager/Estimator to join our Land Division Team. The Project Manager/Estimator is responsible for developing and submitting project estimates, preparing project documents, change order requests, pay applications, and assisting with project close-out procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule and oversee construction projects from start to finish.
- Organize and schedule pre-construction meetings.
- Supervise the development of project schedules while monitoring production to ensure timely project completion.
- Monitor the quality of subcontracted work and schedule subcontractors in advance.
- Assist Superintendents with production and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Produce Job Costing Reports and Change Orders.
- Review and approve invoices and assist with monthly billings.
- Assist with estimating jobs, when required.
- Promote and support safety and adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate daily operations and production with General Manager, Superintendents, and Foreman.
- Coordinate with Developers, Engineers, Inspectors, and General Manager to isolate any project issues and assist in developing solutions.
- Order materials and schedule deliveries, as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of all scopes of work pertaining to site preparation and underground utilities.
- Ability to read and understand job plans and specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively Management, Developers, and individual Foreman and Crews.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office based programs.
- Working knowledge of HCSS, Agtek 4D and TopCon GPS systems is a plus!
- Must be punctual, dependable, and professional with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are searching for a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our onsite Shop Crew.
In this role, you will be responsible for mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy trucks, earth moving and related construction equipment, road grades, dozers, gasoline and diesel powered tractors and dump trucks. You’ll also be tasked with resolving any problems that you find and maintaining large machines to ensure they work properly for as long as possible. To do this, you’ll use a wide variety of tools & equipment. You should be capable of using these things with minimal supervision. Additionally, you should be skilled at spotting mechanical problems and resolving them as efficiently as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote safety – Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others at all times, in accordance with OSHA and J. A. Myers standards.
- Repair & maintain equipment – Service, repair, adjust, maintain and test all equipment in order to maximize performance and limit downtime.
- Inspect equipment & material – Inspect all equipment to determine and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Perform repairs to resolve issues when necessary.
- Handle and move objects – Handle, install, position, and adjust parts, materials and industrial hand tools safely throughout the shop.
- Operate equipment – Assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles, when necessary, to ensure production continues efficiently.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 1-2 years experience
- Valid PA Drivers License
- CDL is a plus, but not required

Excavation Pipe Layers & Laborers
J. A. Myers Homes Land Development division is seeking experienced pipe layers and laborers for both utility and excavation crews working on various jobsites, all within 30 minutes of Hanover, PA.
Pipe Layer Key Responsibilities:
- Grading of pipe trenches to proper depth, aligning, joining and assisting in backfilling trenches
- Installation of concrete structures consisting of manholes, inlets, end walls, etc.
- Laying pipe for sanitary storm sewers, gas utilities, and water mains.
Pipe Layer Qualifications & Requirements:
- Familiar with underground utilities consisting of storm water, water line and sanitary sewer installation.
- Understand trench safety requirements, soil types and use of protective systems.
- General Bulk Excavation knowledge is a plus!
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Laborer Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of heavy constructions tasks which involve physical labor.

Heavy Equipment Operators
J. A. Myers Homes Land Development division is seeking full-time Heavy Equipment Operators with at least 2 years’ experience in all aspects of Residential Excavation. The ability to operate multiple pieces of heavy equipment is a must and a CDL would be helpful but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate construction equipment in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials and supplies.
- Work with and assists with crew with digging ditches, trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment and any related work.
- Perform all duties in compliance with appropriate safety and security standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 2+ years of Heavy Equipment experience.
- Working knowledge of Topcon GPS Systems is a plus!
- Knowledge of OSHA Regulations regarding excavation methods and practices.

Tri-Axle Dump Truck Driver (Part-Time)
J. A. Myers Homes is seeking an experienced, part-time Tri-Axle Dump Truck Driver to join our shop crew. The driver is responsible for hauling loose construction materials such as dirt, rocks, gravel, blacktop materials and other aggregate from one location to another.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive truck equipped with dump bed hauling loose construction materials from various locations within Hanover, PA
- Secure all loads according to state and federal regulations.
- Comply with all federal and state commercial driving rules and regulations.
- Follow assigned schedule for pickups and deliveries of materials.
- Ensure truck is in good working order and clean, including truck bed.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Commercial Driver’s License REQUIRED.
- Must have and maintain clean driving record.
- Ability to pass DOT pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol testing.
